Further north, Batu Ferringhi is Penang's prime beach destination. Stroll along the sandy shores, parasail over the sparkling blue waters, or browse the bustling night market for local handicrafts and tantalizing street food. As the sun sets, the beach comes alive with lively bars and beachside restaurants serving fresh seafood.

For a taste of Penang's Peranakan heritage, head to the neighborhood of Katong. Admire the ornate Baba Nyonya architecture and browse antique shops selling traditional kebayas and other cultural treasures. Stop for a classic Peranakan meal of asam laksa or Nyonya curry at one of the family-run eateries.
